I like the burnt handle. I have done one that way so far. Nothing wrong with old school imo.

Is it a 4 or 5 lb head?

It had a 4 stamped on it and it weighed 4.2.

I mentioned the other day how on most good axes the whole head isn’t hardened. I have a picture to help explain now.
You can see it plain as day on this one

I did it would have probably gotten better. I’ve put them on handles now

Put a quick edge on it I kinda like the old sorta look to it. Also both were pitted they were never gonna be completely gloss worthy. I’ll actually use them both so they likely will accidentally get left in the back of truck Dew and frosted up

I haven't had time to look into it yet. Thank you for looking it up. I guess it makes since that I live in California and found it out here than. It should be some good old steel than. I think I will vinegar soak it to try and preserve it as much as possible.

It’s funny I had a stiletto double bit here and a guy from penngrove CA just bought it shipped it out on Tuesday

That’s interesting there isn’t much on that head

Here’s a craftsman I done a few months back a lot more hardening on this head

Got this out of it's vinegar bath. It came out pretty nice. When I get more time I will start fixing the pole and a few other things.
