Just found out my grandma georgia nicknamed "tine" worked in the Kelly's axe factory when she was younger she passed away in 80- 81 i never knew that.
Would be neat to talk with her and others that did that kind of work and pick their brains.

Finished this tonight. Love me some Stihl but don't need it all over my splitting axe handle. Happy with the results.

There's a flea market in milton wv a guy has thousands of wood handles for like 4.00 a piece lol if he hasn't raised his price.
i need to go buy a stack i keep finding axe heads I've bought some nice straight hickory handles from him.
Edit not anymore the guy in milton went out of business i have to pay 10.00 a handle now lol

You likely just lowered the value of that axe! Ha;)
I take the lacquer off of all of my handle as due most axe makers. It allows you to keep the wood oiled and strong.

It's more valuable to me after the work, nice job!
Husqvarna axe handles are not lacquered at all, just oil.

Looks like she has the proper shoes for the job, maybe? Not!
It's like I tell the customer when I go into a manufacturing facility "YEP! Safety toes!"

I agree completely: she & I had an agreement right after that picture.

I was loading up the saws & she'd already taken her boots off: not again.
