Very nice, I really like the dark color.
I have never used the round wedges, do you like them?
I am also curious what the approximate cost would be for a 4×10×2 piece of bamboo would /should cost? If you don't mind me asking....

we had stable fronts and doors done in the bamboo and the stable firm brought extra sheets for finishing and other bits and the fitters when they left said they didnt want too haul all the offcuts back so i couldnt resist putting this away for a rainy day

After being lost for at least one decade I "found" this old thing in my tool shack a couple month ago.

I knew it was somewhere just didn't bother looking for it.
I'm thinking of giving it a sharpening and force it through a couple rounds to see whether it can compete with my main "splitter" (doubtful though).

Nice Wilheim! That last one has some makers marks on it. Can you make out what they are?
No, it doesn't tell anything specific.
I could try and take a wire wheel to it and see if the marking will clean up any though.

I see what you mean are the handles in photo 4 any bigger
Gotta say there nice styles wouldn’t say no
What do You mean by "are the handles in photo 4 any bigger"?

Which one do You like, I'll take a look at their prices for You. ;)
The big 5Kg maul has it's price show in the first picture.

It’s another beauty in the making
We'll see.
The head was too weak and split open, so my dad welded a 1cm thick piece of steel atop of it many many years ago.
If she's any good for splitting oak rounds after a sharpening she'll quickly clean up while slicing through them.

Ah, roger that!
It is possible that some of the other loose handles would make a better fit, but the shop doesn't seat handles - they just sell what they get the way they get it.
I wasn't there purchasing ax's nor handles so I generally didn't pay too much attention to details either.

Many of those pictured handles are flawed due to knot sections in them, most are not straight, some are showing cracks - very disappointing quality.

Wilhelm I like that the head that’s similar to yours

I looked at it too, it is close to mine but lighter and narrower from the blade to the mid section.
I do like the way it is seated, just placed onto the handle from the other end securing itself by the thicker handle end, no wedges whatsoever.
That ax design is called "Bosnian ax", first time I've seen one being seated like that.

My dads coal mine ax is seated that way, there is no way for it to come flying off the handle.
Gotta look for my dads old ax, get and post some pictures.

The only issue with that kind of handle seating is that the handle must be fairly thin at the holding end.
The ax's eye should also be shaped accordingly to accommodate such seating style.
