So you run the burr in the wrong direction? That must take forever.
They make left turn burrs but I think he's putting the burr in frome the back.

I use a sharp single cut, aluma hog or cc single cut,I never have liked a double cut for aluminum.

Little wd40 will help also

Yes. It puts a final finish much better. If Im taking a good bit I run the right direction but for final little touchs and smoothing out I reverse the bit in the opposite end and use higg apeed light touch

Yes. For final touches it works for a novice like me and keeps from taking too big a bite for final touches

I use an 80 grit diamond burr for finishing. Single cut burr from Buckey Carbide for every thing else, SE-51 or SE-53.

I use the singlecut buckeye aluma hog for fast removal, then switch to a double cut for final finish, sand with madrel or drums in order of 120, 320, 660. Then I use diamond ball for beveling , followed by 320 sandpaper, then scotchbrite them

I have better luck with single cuts leaving a smooth surface, a little wd-40 or dip in 2-stroke or marvels oil will keep the build up off them and the cut clean and shiny. I only use double cuts on steel or when breaking through really tough plating.

No sense polishing everything that much. Rough surfaces have increased flow over polished surfaces and it aids in keeping fuel from puddling. I only sand with 320 grit on ex ports to try to keep carbon from building up.

I have a 200 grit 3/8" diamond ball burr I use for bevels, I might run a ball hone through the bore after to put some scratches in for oil retention.

I only polish the exhaust and leave the intake and transfers at about 240

I put the bit in backwards on a cc right angle, use high speed, and a light touch on the transfers. Works alot better and doesnts pull or chatter. A foredom that reverses is pretty nice also

I use a double cut burr for uppers. I have used it on the last 10 or more cylinders. It was used on lowers and intakes before and maybe finger ports so it's not super sharp. H1r worked good for bits but I knocked the jar I had off he bench and spilled the last I had.

Ya that dull double burr in the right angle backwards sort of rubs the port to death and knocks the high spots out and polishes at the same time

Ain't everyday that you get to tear down a brand new 064 and put a 066 cylinder on.View attachment 31428
I like how you used nice clean cardboard too.
That really a special thing to see.

Edit: Sure looks better than my rat rod 064 but it cost me under $100 all up so I cant complain

Got the uppers done. They are at 121 now. Also widened the lowers a little. Just need to put bevels on everything and polish exhaust.

I think a clean consistent bevel makes power,I want it to open crisp and even.

There's a small gain in everything and if you can get all of them together you can have a super strong saw instead of a strong one.
