1 When my piston to cyl head quench at tdc is .070"
do I need a machinist to correct this or can I do it myself?

2 On this new mityvac 8500, I know what psi reading of 8 is,
but not .4 bar. Is this bar the inside reading on the gauge marked in red?

1 bar 14.7psi. Bar is short for barometric pressure at sea level. So .4 bar 1.47x4=5.88psi. Lets just call it 6!

If your squish is .070 with a base gasket then removing it and using a gasoline resistant sealer will remove some clearance depending on the thickness of the gasket. Machining is the best and most accurate way to tignten squish. There are other methods but i dont recomend them.

I can turn your cylinder base down if you'd like. Shipping is only about $8 each way

Thanks Kevin I might take you up there if I don't find someone closer. My go to elder guy is more of a parts changer than engine builder, I thank him much. I was told of a possible guy close.

This is slow going with no ready made block offs etc.
I'm a first time, wanna be, vac sucker.

Regarding your thread title, even if your question is solid, they answers are likely to turn stupid before too long.

Just look at this one.
