Yesterday I went to a nearby auction and picked up a couple of saws. The saws available were two running husky 350, a non running 350 with bar less chain, a non running husky 346 no bar and front mount not attached to tank/handle assy, two running craftsman home owner saws, stihl 026 and a jonsered 2152.
The first two to sell were the runner 350's. I didn't write it down but I thought they brought 130-140 ea.
The non runner 350 brought 90. Craftsmans brought over 100. I got the stihl and the jonsered 2152 for 160 ea, both claimed complete runners. Then I was bidding on the 346 until the next bid would have been what I paid for the other two.
Did I miss out on a deal on the 346?
Did I overpay for the 026 or 2152?
Are husqvarna 350's that desirable? I haven't run a 350 or a 346. The same guy that was purchasing a lot of misc items for resale purchased the craftsmans and the 350's.
As far as the two I got, I attempted to start the stihl with the small amount of gas that came with it and no fire. The Jonsered started and needed choke. Did some cleaning on the 2152, leveled out the bar rails and fitted a used stihl .063 semi chisel chain. The chain that came with was an .050 with 74 links. The husqvarna laminate bar is supposed to have .058 with 72 drive links. Removed the metering diaphragm cover and reset the lever height. I kept the carb limiters in place and saw runs great.

Sounds about right. 350's have a bit of a following. They are good saws and easy to work on and modify. Locally they bring a pretty good buck even non running. I just sold a few for what I had in them and three of the four sold within 24hr. Normally all done and ready to cut wood. They bring mid $3's locally. I've heard that from several other people as well. Can't say a 346 is worth the premium over them. Have run them both and unless you have the 346 ported well. The average guy wont know the difference in performance.

I'd say you did real good on the jred. I'm a big fan of the red sweeds.

Well said ^. 350 vs 346 isn’t a huge jump. My 346 sits more than I use it. Not ready to let it go yet. It’s great. But I tend to use other saws more than it. Need to start the ol girl. Never had her running all year. Ran a 345 in place of it. Didn’t like it better but liked it just about as well.

Pincher asked, "Are Husqvarna 350's that desirable?"
--------------------------------
I have two that I bought as non-runners, repaired them, and then saved them to back up my 353 and I seldom run them because the 353 keeps going and going and...

That's the way it is.

I did some research after the fact and they appear to be similar to jonsereds 510/520/525 series with better antivibes. One of my first two jonsereds was a 535. They cut wood just fine. I found after having a couple ms250s the 535 didn't get used as much. Same thing would have probably happened if I would have found a 350 instead.

What’s the skinny on 353. I’ve never seen or ran one. Same as 350 but larger?

CFB built me a sweet 353, he’s posted a few videos. a 350 is a plastic crankcase still a good saw though and lots of interchangeability between the series.

351 are metal cases and usually cheap. Lots of hype and price over 346ne. If your unconcerned over data tags or stickers look elsewhere in the series 350, 351, 353 there lots of ways to put together a really excellent saw for cheap.

I’ve got a couple 346. And a 345. I’ve run a 350 a fair amount. I’d agree the 346 is only a click over the rest I’ve run. Use the 345 a lot while 346 sit under bench.

the 345 was a new toy but I still seem to grab it up most often.
