A 288 piston has a center ring location and can not be run backwards or it will look just like the piston in it.

The shape of the exhaust roof is directly related to power and we go as flat as we dare, sometimes we get it to wide for how flat it is or just to flat and then it will do what we got here.

Have a 346 that must be tweaked every trip. Why the hell is that?

A heavily ported saw needs tuned continually if you want it strong as it can be all the time.

Agreed. My DD saw is a strong work saw. The other one is wicked up pretty good, beyond what I would consider a work saw.

well there you have it. used a hiway brand bearing because the oem bearing was back ordered and the saw needed done, a guy sure can save a lot of money using am parts.
new oem bearing, new piston, cylinder cleaned up well. ran 2 tanks all seems good.

Ive had 3 of the Hyway 288 wrist pin bearings fail this year. All did within a couple weeks of use.

I"ve had trouble with the pin brgs in saws using the 288 piston also, both aftermarket and oem. It seems that custom machining spacers to keep both the rod and bearing centered in the piston has eliminated the issue. All of the saws I have sent out with the spacers have been trouble free, and the brgs were aftermarket.

Pick is dark but I sold this 660 with a ported aftermarket top end. After market bearing lasted 1 tank, broke the bridge right out

I ran the saw this last weekend at Scott's mini wood cutting GTG. It was very stout. I think the OP will be very happy when he gets it back.

So a bearing failure, a $5 part, caused all of this? Jeeesh. All the better reason to use OEM for parts that really count. I am glad this all ended well.
We all got some schooling as well.

I ran the saw at Scotts house. It starts and runs good. It is a strong running saw and should make the owner very happy.

You will have them sort of problems on those bigger jobs. Lol. Sorry for your misfortune but it happens. Live and learn from every experience is the way I've found to keep moving forward. Hope your problem is resolved now my friend. Very respectful of the seller and builder to go those lengths for a customer. As well as show the world what happened to your saw. People of that nature are top notch in my book.
