Got a new hunting rifle for wifey...Model 70 featherweight compact in 6.5 Creedwhore. My normal sized featherweight on top.

She'll like that caliber for sure. I have a Featherweight in 6.5 × 55 and 1/2" five shot groups were the norm for this rifle out of the box with 140 grain Sierra match and Hornady 160 grain roundnose. H4831 and IMR4831 worked well for me.

Bought a stimulus canik tp9sc elite IMG_20210105_195233.jpgIt's virtually the same size as a m&p .40 3.6 compact if anyone is familiar with the smith.IMG_20210103_133259.jpgReally liking the trigger and sights are warren tacticalIMG_20210102_153107.jpg IMG_20210103_132837.jpg that's 18 yds slow fire
Accurate enough for me.

Was out looking to kill coyotes a couple nights ago. Nothing moving, to bright I think. Critters don't seem to move much on a full moon it seems. Anyway snapped this pic with the night sight option on my phone cam. Completely overcast and about 10pm.

Nice looking gun! I love Winchester guns.

If you reload a good load for the 6.5 creedmoor is... . CCI BR2 primer 39.6 gr of H4350 and Hornady 143 gr eld-x. That load shoots one ragged hole at 100 yards for a 3 shot group.

That seems low on powder but it could be your gun. Accuracy is different in all of them. Drop is easy to compensate for compared to wind.

My savage is 41.6 for 140 ELD match and 41.7 for Berger 140 VLD hunting. I’ve shot some 3/4” groups at 400 with the hornady load and 7-8” at 1200 with the Berger

My Remington 700 6.5 really likes 32 grains IMR 8208 under just about any 140 grain slug. I like the Sierra Game King and Hornady Interlock myself.
Thanks for the load info gents. I gotta try to find some suitable powders and projectiles for this cartridge. Easier said than done right now. Almost all the powder I have on hand is slower burning stuff like IMR4350. A friend of mine has had some success with RL17 which I have. Gonna be fun to work up a load for the new kid, get me out of my loading rut.

My load of 32 grains IMR 8208 is from Nosler's data site. It's definitely on the mild side, I would guess around 2400 fps. I can't imagine ever taking a shot beyond 200 yards when hunting so I see no need to burn extra powder and possibly invite throat erosion.
