This is a 32" Oregon that I did a quick pattern for a cutout on.
I would do a wavy pattern or zig zag instead of doing a straight cut so the "bar filler" will have something to lock into and it will give it more suface area. I think it would be stronger than a straight line.

Yeah, I hear you.

I'm going to draw out some different patterns when I get back from CA next week.

I would also not leave as much meat in the middle of the cutouts. Or do three cutouts with only lick a 1/4" between them. Just being critical... it looks great.

So after busting a few teeth off of the first bit, I got my RPM's, oil use, and downward pressure sorted out. Thankfully, @USMC615 had sent me a few spare cutter heads, so the next five holes were much easier.

Now it's time to remove the steel between the bore holes.

Did you decide on a product for the infill?

Interesting stuff. I hope this works out. I have a few Es bars that need to go on a diet.

It'll work out, maybe not in regard to time, but definitely in education and experience.

This bars is a 32" Oregon. I elected to do this one first as I have a used 32" Oregon RW for weight, and rigidity comparison when I am done.

Did you weigh the bar before punching out the holes? Or did I miss that?
