I'm getting good results with Windsor and Oregon "Chipmaster" "round" files in 5/32" & 7/32", in a Granberg guide, or course.
Good longevity & great price, good combo. The file guide seems to help longevity, too.

Unless it's rocked I can file it quicker than I could pull it off and grind it.

I have found most name brand files pretty good. Everyone used to say the Stihl files (Vallorbe) suck but I think their pretty decent. As long as a file ain't dull, the hand driving it is most important IMO.

Good thread. Just order some Vallorbe. Just can't get the edge I want with 6 sided save edge. The corners seam to round.
