I've got a Oregon 511 ax and had it a few years
with tricks like reversing the moter with a drill I've got pretty good results.
I am always trying new things to speed up my work chains with different angles and such
Today I clipped the toe on the rakers and lowered the chasie just in front of the raker to help carry more chips
This chain goes on a ported 395 32" bar and mostly cuts and bucks big pine with this saw
This chain cuts great like this
60/30/10
My bigest questions are will the chasie work and clipped toes hold up for the life of the chain
And I took the gullet as far down as I could is there any down side to such a low gullet
Also is there better angles for clipping the toes to help drag chips in soft wood.
I'm no expert any advice would be appreciated

Any other tips or tricks would be nice
I don't think I'm ready to go to square yet I'd like to master round first
Thanks

Don’t get too low on the top of that DL, it’s the weak spot of a chain
Does that look to low?
I tried to just make it flat I've never done anything to the drag link before
Thanks

Ive got lots of time right now
Currently laid off will be back at it in a couple weeks theres just to much snow
It's been nice to have some time
Wish I could get a temporary lay off more often

Just a tad too deep. Grind shallow then go back and clean the gullet with a second pass. You’re not into the drive links so that’s fine as far as gullet depth. The hook will cut aggressive but dull quicker.

I’m not following on what you mean by clipping the toe on the rakers?
As deets said stay outta the actual drive links.
Gullet depth is perfect No downside to that I go deep as well

Thanks everyone for your help
the rakers on this chain were lots bigger. I guess for bore cutting or kick back
I ground off the front to allow more room for chips i was curious if making the front more vertical would drag chips better
I also lowered them to .25

Marshy and Moparmyway I ground both of those spots you hi lighted
This is probably not a good idea for true work chain it's a bit aggressive
I put it in some wood today and it cuts great probably will work well for bucking big logs
I'm thinking about taking a bit more off the front of the raker where marshy
hi lighted to make it more vertical and less round thinking it would clear chips better
I believe he means this area..?
