I love my 395, it's still my favorite saw, but unless I'm running a 36" I won't even run it anymore than a few minutes. It's fun but I have lighter saws that can take care of the smaller stuff

Only 6 measely little cc's difference between the 390&395 yet such different saws. While the 395 is a LOT bigger in size I kinda wonder sometimes what makes them 6cc and larger case make it such a stronger saw.

For running shorter bars mostly with occasional larger bar stuff out of what you listed Stihl 661. I would of recommended a Husky 394/395 if you was doing mostly large stuff I say that because I think the 661 feels a bit better with shorter bars. Personally I would get a Husky 288xp and with the money saved have it masterminded but I know thats not an option for you. For a new stock unported saw and what your doing get the 661 best of luck

About forgot about this post. The saw was for work and we got one during the Gatlinburg fires. My boss bought me a 661. The dealer delivered to us on site. Good thing it was Mtronic since they hadn't been run at the dealer! So far I like it, it is a good running saw. Since it didn't come out of my budget, even better. I will probably pick up a few saws come July 1. The truck saws (290,310) are giving us fits (ethanol fuel in the past, not ran a lot, etc). The contract on saws expires before then so I can buy off contract then. Probably take advantage of the fleet program from Husky and get two 50-60 cc saws and a 395. Then it will be the difference in which smaller saws I will get. I may try to get them from Terry Landrum and have a little extra done to them before I pick them up .
