I've been playing with the 5105 dolmars. Not sure I got the recipe yet but they don't run to bad. When I shot this vid this saw has 1 tank of fuel threw it. On this saw I took .020 from base and .010 from squish. 105/120/79 is where I landed. 110/130/70 with 195 comp and .030 squish is where I started. Thought this might be a fun thread. Here what Ya'll got for experience on this baby!

That's a big bar for a 50cc. Very cool.

What are your impressions of it vs the Echo CS500 you recently did?
Well I hate to jump to judgement. I kinda just threw some numbers at this saw and it's not broke it yet. But i have another one to do so I'll build it slowly using this one as a base saw to do a little learning.

Understandable.

If I won the lottery I'd like to get a 346, 550, 5105, MS261, Echo, Solo,.....all 50cc ish saws, put a similar length bar and chain on each and test them out in various wood with a bunch of guys. Then with more of the lottery winnings send them all out to be ported and repeat the test again.

Runs very good! I like em lil' Dolmars.

I've run a stock 346 with 20" 3/8 a bit and it did surprisingly well.
I was just playing as well. I thought it handled it rather well but it really likes .325. Well work on the recipe a little see if we can get it to handle it even better.

Shoot, we'd get a pig, a VP tanker truck,.....

I'll have to start buying lottery tickets again

I'm going to be running 3/8" on my 18" 5100s. Can't wait to see how this build turns out.

I havnt played with the timing at all yet either. Of course it it's like the 6100 it won't want any part of advancing it.

Where are the jug pics? ;)
Never been into a dolmar. Maybe after my echo kick. Gotta try them all before I decide which brand I like.

limited coil?

Piston give ya much room to play?

I thought I have heard these may be some what carb limited too.

If I Had a million dollars
We wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinner.
(But we would eat Kraft Dinner. Of course we would, we'd just eat more.
And buy really expensive ketchup with it.
That's right, all the fanciest Dijon Ketchup)

I didn't take any. I will take some on my next build. All the saws I had here are waiting on parts. So this was a last minute ahh let's give it a go. Lmao. Yes there limited and a small venturing carb like the echo. The transfers ports are freaking tiny. Not much room to bump the comp without free porting. Muffler mod is a pain in the azzz. Thought about putting a 5100 coil on it to grab the 14500 but this one limits at 13500 and pretty easy to tune so far so I havnt ordered one yet. That's the cliff note version. Lol.

166 did a pretty extensive video comparison of (2) stock 5100S's.
One wearing a modified cat muffler with 3/8 & the other a non cat muffler wearing .325.
The cat wearing, 3/8 saw was noticibly faster 10 outta 10 times.

EDIT: both were 16"
