Nope. Leave it in. They idle better with it in and gain pretty well nothing with it out.

I'd assume it would matter if the divider is in the venturi, as it would restrict the effective flow somewhat?

The divider in the rwj isolates the fuel draw on the nozzle side of the carb. The fuel signal actually has a venturi. The opposite side it a straight thru bore that feeds the stratos. If you take the divider out, you lose the fuel signal by the larger bore. I know of saws not running the divider. To make it run without the divider you have to make changes to deliver fuel.
A rwj quits feeding fuel at around two turns out on the high needle.

I'm am not aware for a carb swap for a 357/9 that would allow operational choke or air filter. Loose one of those and it is doable.

You need a mini mill to make cants to get more fuel through those saws.

Hopefully soon Ill be able to take em to the woods and make some heat.. getting too fat from all these cookies :)

So what's the consensus between a 357 and 359? If one was to build a saw would it be a 357 through and through or 357 crank and 359 cylinder or 359 crank with 357 cylinder. Let's get this thread back to the top and get some life into it.

I say 357 top end on a 357 crank (stuffers).

Or 359 top on a 359 crank (no stuffers).

I dunno i sure was impressed with the ported 359 at the mighigan gtg last year. Dont know whoes it was but it ran super sweet. I like a wide powerband and it had it. The 357 i ran was fast but peeky more of a limb saw.... i guess and the 359 was a nice bucking firewood saw. I wonder what situations othès think each one shines?

359 will have a wider power band and is damn impressive when ported. 357xp will be faster and can be the best of both worlds if ported right.

The am 359 hyway jug could be the best of both worlds.. Iffin the plating will hold up.

@Jimmy in NC

Will have to let us know once his is done.. it has some pretty decent numbers put in.

357 style transfers, but 47mm 359 bore. Plating wanted to flake out while porting, some giant bevels helped that a bit lol.

I like this saw pretty well, but my crap saw just puts a bigger grin on.
