I recently purchased a seized ms440. I plan on using a meteor or hway topend. Is there much advantage to making an unported hybrid?

This is a very good question. I was also wondering the same thing. It would be kinda cool to see a stock hybrid compared to a ported hybrid.

I have a mildly ported one and the one above ,the one above is much more pissed off sounding .But when working on a hill the milder one is easier to start so i will grab that one ,over 200 psi pulls much harder than 175 psi

Performance wise is there a lot of difference between your mild hybrid and a stock ms440?

I really liked how my 10mm ks jug ran on the 440 ,it ran better than a 440 decomp jug ,i would say the bigger piston in the 460 jug helps tourque if you run a longer bar .The tighter 440 crankcase makes the 460 jug run different than if it was on a 460 bottom ,revs quicker

My opinion if your not porting it instead of AM get you an angled fin ks 044 jug or older mahle angle fin and put a new piston and rings in it and that will impress you more than the 460 top end.

So the mild hybrid revs faster and makes more torque. Is there much difference between the 440 and your mild hybrid in wot rpms and/or rpms in the cut?

They rev about the same ,i can lean on the hybrid more with a 32 inch bar though over the 044 jug i tested ,the 044 ks early jug ran real nice though .

Im not scared of the extra work fitting the jug. I put together a bb 044 a while back, and was quite unimpressed. Just wondering if a 460 topend would be any better.

Depending on which BigBore kit you used, being unimpressed is normal, others can be nice.
Some manufacturers just "rescue" improperly finished jugs by honing out the bore to a larger size before plating, without any regard to timing and the other essentials of cylinder design.
In MOST cases a standard bore new OEM jug will perform better than a big bore aftermarket.
For the MS440 I would not be afraid of a Meteor kit at all.
If you are looking for an "upgrade" find an early slant fin 044 jug as suggested earlier, it is impressive.
Jeremy is doing a build thread in a Hybrid here that may show you all the little steps you will need if you decide to go hybrid.
The Meteor 460 jug is nice though it wont match Jeremy's build.
