I am thinking about selling my 346NE to help fund a t540. I use my 562 for just about everything and have almost decided a 14'' 540xp would be more useful. I think a lighter saw would be handy and my 346xp is getting little use. Anyone have thoughts?

I cut 8 to 10 cords per year for firewood and use a saw a little around my 40 acres of timber.

Disclaimer- I really like my husky dealer. I am not at all interested in other brands of saws today.

In my opinion you won’t like the top handle for firewood. A top handle is for climbing or for use in a bucket truck. What length bar is on the 346? I’ve got 3 200t, ms 150t, 355t, t540xp, cs2511t, and a 271t. I’ll never grab one of them for ground work or firewood work...

It has a 16 inch sugi. I went down to an 18 on the 562 and they are close enough together that the 562 gets 90% of the work. If there was a was a 8 or 9lb 40cc husky xp saw I would likely go that route with a 14 inch bar.

If your liking a 562 with a 18” bar you just might like the top handle... your sold on husky so maybe try and run a 543xp. I have one of those as well and it’s a decent saw. Firewood use I would take my 543 over the t540 any day... you also could put your bar off the 346 on the 543...

The t540 is a great little saw. If that's the direction you decide to go you won't be disappointed.

Although I'd give up my 540 before I'd part with one of the 346's...

FWIW... I mostly use the top handle for small firewood that gets used in the evaporator. It can be 4-5" diameter down to 2". Works great for that.

I couldn’t get use to the t540. I’ve had a 338xp, 192t, 200t, and 201tc and liked the 338 and 540 the least.

The more I use my 2017 201tc (timing bump and mm) the more I like it. I use it more than my 200t now. It’s picked up power.

I'm just a home owner, so I might be closer to your situation.

I used to have a 201T that was modified by @blsnelling that I used for climbing and limbing the doug fir, cedar, and hemlocks. I sold it and now I have a 2511T Euro edition in the mail; it has the 1/4" picco standard.

I want it for limbing/climbing but also for my wood chipper. I have a home owner chipper and like a light top handle for cutting the Y's out branches. Lastly I like to cut trail on my property and have a lot of vine maple. It's nice to be able to stabilize the branch with one hand and prune off the unwanted bit.

Honestly, now that I ported my MS241, I use it more than my 044 (Until I pickup a MS 462 or 500i I'm sure...).
