Alright guys, I’ve got an 066 in a box courtesy of a member here. Trying to figure out what I’ve got and what I need for a good stout build. I’ve got two sets of case with cranks. Both cranks are shot, the rod bearings are shot. One has an aluminum flywheel and one has a poly. I have one new crank assembly that was included separately for the poly flywheel saw. Have a WJ69 carb. One tank assembly with wiring and carb boot. Top cover, clutch cover, brake flag, brake parts, clutch assembly and some odds and ends.

I plan on doing a full build and here’s e parts list I have so far. Any help is appreciated, I’ve never done a full build before. I’m hoping to find someone local to Knoxville who can help me setup the bottom end.

Parts list
Full gasket kit
Crank bearings
Crank seals
New HO oil pump assembly
Piston and cylinder kit
Unlimited coil
Max flo air filter

what parts am I missing and any tips, tricks or help for the newbie?

It appears like you have one set of poly flywheel cases and one set of metal flywheel cases. You’ll want to find out for sure. The poly flywheel crank won’t work in the “short” case and the metal flywheel crank won’t work in the “long” poly flywheel case. I just rebuilt a early metal flywheel 066 with the small crank stub end. You need the 064 gasket/seal set for the short cases. The 064/early 066 use a smaller seal on the flywheel side and smaller case gasket than the later 066/660. The crankshaft bearings are the same for both metal/poly saws. I’m far from an expert on these saws, but this is what I’ve learned in my limited experiences doing one of these saws.

yeah since I have a good crank for the poly fly wheel so I’m gonna build that one first. Both cases have the step in the front but one has the big snot crank and poly flywheel

do you have a service manual for the 066/660 yet?

Not yet that’s next on the list as well as ordering the top end when you get a meteor back in I think

This is my first full build so I’m hoping number one to have a good reliable runner but number two I’m hoping to find somebody to work the cylinder over and make it an animal as well as learn to split the case and build a bottom end

You mean I can’t just show up at your doorstep with a box full of parts and bug the *s-word out of you and ply you with free beer until you help me build it? Lmfao

Nope. I don't drink alcohol.

As luck would have it I got 5 cases from Meteor today including 15 of the 066 cylinder kits :)
you can probably find the manual in the beg for manuals thread
