I went to my local Stihl dealer today trying to buy a 16" 325 Stihl "Light 04" bar for my 261. She said it exists only in 18" and 20", and showed me the book that there was no 16" option. The 18" option was 3003-008-3317
However when I search online, I see the 16 for sale at Ace Hardware...
The choke knob on my BR-700 blower is no longer working properly. I am assuming something snapped off inside? Is this a common thing?
I can start it by holding the knob with one hand... but it runs like *s-word.. and idles too high.
SOLD
For sale is an excellent condition Stihl 461R ported by Jason Egan.

I bought it last year from a member of the Jason Egan...
Tonight I was using my Oregon 620 grinder and it was working fine, but then all of a sudden it ended up stuck. Somehow the grinding wheel and arm came up but the hydraulics didn't release the chain so it's stuck in there. I also can't lower the arm - it goes about 1/4 of the way and then...
I absolutely frigging love picco chain on my 241. It cuts damn near as fast as 325 on my 261 before porting.
I've been waiting on the new narrow kerf 325 chain stihl is releasing, but stihl is dicking around and not releasing it in the US, for now anyway.
I'm starting to wonder... why...
I read somewhere that the 201 C-EM is getting lighter (8.1 lbs) and more powerful sometime soon.
Anyone have any info on this? When will it be available on Greece? :D
I've been experimenting with RM vs RS chain (.325) and am not seeing a lot of speed differences in hardwood (oak that's been down for 1 year, but off the ground).
However I am noticing that it is significantly smoother and less chattery. Night and day difference. It's really nice.
Is RS...
Today's I decided to attack a stump in my yard. All it a sudden brown liquid starts shooting out my clutch cover. I pulled the saw out and water came gushing out. It wasn't as extreme as this video (not my video!) but it was a similarly shocking amount of liquid.
It was particularly...
I haven't seen this discussed anywhere until today,.. The 462 has the pin you can punch to increase the oiler rate.
This seems like great news for someone who wants a 462 for mostly medium bar use (20-25) but very occasionally has something to cut that benefits from a longer bar.
I'm even...
I own this battery Worx trimmer, and it works reasonably well for my minimal usage
https://www.worx.com/56v-cordless-grass-trimmer-edger-wg191.html
But the head sucks. It won't feed more line without letting it stop and restart, and the line often gets short, breaks, and then gets sucked...
My 261 is in the queue to be ported by Randy. I am stoked. Word on the street is that be knows what he's doing. :D Can't wait.
My other saws are
Stock Stihl 241: I love it for small stuff with the picco chain. I'm tempted to have it ported too (apparently it responds really well) but...
I've seen a lot of 462 vs 500i discussions but most focus on torque and speed in the cut, rather than the potential implications of not having a carburetor.
Are there (theoretical?) advantages to not having the carb? Disadvantages? For example
Will it be less susceptible to issues from...
I'm trying to learn how to sharpen chains using my Oregon 620 grinder. If it's cool I'll post pics here to get feedback on what I'm doing wrong and how to improve. I've gotten good results on new-ish chains but I'm still struggling with chains where the cutters are well worn.
Here's an old...
I have a Stihl 241 with PS3 (Picco) and a 261 with .325. In many types of wood they cut damn near the same speed. The narrower kerf of the PS3 nearly compensates for the extra power of the 261.
And I've found some youtube videos and discussions on other forums showing that a 261 with PS3...
I have a muff mod 261 with a 16" & 18" bars with Stihl RM and RS chains. I feel like in order to cut at reasonable speed I need to push down a bit on the saw... and if I do, it does indeed cut better.
Pushing down is normally a sign of a dull chain, but I sharpen them by hand with Stihls 2-1...
I have two saw that I've been comparing.
1. Stihl 241cm w/ 14" bar and picco RM chain
2. Stihl 261cm w/ 16" bar and 325 RS chain
Comparing them back-to-back, I'm impressed how well the pico slices through medium-sized wood.. to the point that I think it's a better slicer than limber. I'm...
There seems to be a lot of love for the wrap handle, particularly on the 461. I'd say I see it recommended 3-1 over the non-R model.
My main hesitation is the weight. It's 1.1 lbs heavier than 461. Before anyone says "one pound is nothing", a few observations.
1.1 lbs is more than half of...
