Stihl BR-700 Blower Choke Knob Broken? Spins freely

The choke knob on my BR-700 blower is no longer working properly. I am assuming something snapped off inside? Is this a common thing?

I can start it by holding the knob with one hand... but it runs like *s-word.. and idles too high.

It is possible that the spring of the chocke shaft is broken. The springs of the chocke shaft and throttle shaft were changed in the past because of the risk of breaking. Remove the carb from your machine an examine it.
