I shot a few rounds of skeet wit an A5 sweet 16. I will occasionally watch gunbroker for an A5, but I have yet to buy one of my own. Some day or maybe the remington or savage clone.

Ammo has gotten fairly easy to find around here. My local walmart had three different varieties of shells. Gander Mtn before closing always carried ammo as well. And there's always mail order options if one plans ahead and can wait for the shipping.

I've bought and sold a number of Browning Sweet 16's over the years. Just never shot one. I couldn't get used to the Pogo stick action of the A5. I think I still have a new Belgian A5 in 12ga floating around.

Yep. My dad bought it new in the box, In the 80's from a guy who needed money. I believe he paid $200 for it. Neither of us really wanted it, so it sat in my dads safe until he gave his guns to me. Now it sits in one of mine.

Yep. I refer to them as Pogo stick guns. They're great guns, just not my favorite. I have a Browning Double Auto that operates on the same principle. I never could get used to that long recoil impulse.

I don't remember the exact details but it had something to do with John Browning licensing Remington and Savage to build the guns before he hooked up with FN and after he cut ties with Winchester.

I used t have a Belgian made A5 20ga. It was a fixed modified and on the light end of modified... I probably shouldn't have sold it as it was a dandy quail gun, but I preferred more versatile fouling pieces. I have them in my 3.5" chamber 870 and my CZ Bobwhite 20ga. As both have interchangeable chokes, I can configure them for many purposes. If I get another shotgun, it will be either a 16ga in an A5, a L.C. Smith, or a W.W. Greener... A Kriegoff or BT99 with adjustable comb may also find it's way in my safe. I do like my late G.FI.L's BT99, but w/o an adjustable stock, it doesn't fit me very well. Trap scores aren't improved by a wandering gun to shooter fitment...

I'm looking at two cheaper guns right now and was hoping someone here may have one of them to give me a little review. The first one is a CVA Hunter in either 44mag or 243. The 243 is just so cheap I may grab it as I have a project Barrel here to RI do it in 38 Special. At the same time the 44mag is only a few bucks more... And hey who doesn't love a good 44mag. :)

The other is just a cheap carry gun. I'm looking at the Taurus 85 5 shot 38 Special or 357 mag. Both are so cheap I kind of want one. Any help is appreciated as always.

The CVA could be a good deal in any caliber, but a T/C wouldn't be a lot more and likely be of better quality. I have shot a few Taurus 85's and though a S&W will have a better trigger, bang for the buck is on the side of the Taurus. I have a model 608 eight-shot .357 and it now has a bit of head shake on the cylinder after somewhere north of 3K rounds through it, many being full-house magnums. It's still VERY accurate and though it doesn't have the trigger of Dad's Python, or a 586/686, it's been a hell of a tool. I will likely be sending it back to Taurus for refurbishment and put another 2-5K through it before one of my children inherit it.

I will say though that since Dad bought his new S&W model 57, I have become very enamored with the ,41 mag cartridge. I like my 4" 629 a lot, but that 6" 57 is a hell of a revolver...

I have a couple of Pigeon grade 101's in 20 ga. A standard and a light weight. They're dandy quail guns. I bought a really nice one for my wife but she prefers her Citori skeet gun.
I've had a couple Red labels in 20ga and one in 12ga. The 20's were good little guns. The 12 didn't balance as well, at least for me.

I'd like to find a Diamond Grade Winchester model 23 SxS in 12ga, with 30" barrels. The same gun in .410 is one of my Grail guns.

Stock fitment is probably the most overlooked aspect of shot gunning. I'm left handed and have fought with poorly fitting stocks my entire life. When shooting Trap, it's not as bad because you can pre mount the gun. I have a 34" Perazzi TMX with a neutral stock that I shoot well.
When I started shooting Sporting Clays ,with a low gun, the fitment issue really frustrated me. I went through several Browning Sporting guns, a couple of Berrettas and a Kreigoff K80. I ended up having Wenig custom gun stocks fit me and make a stock for my Perazzi MX8. The fitting process took an entire day but the end product was well worth it. It took move mount and shoot from a three step exercise in futility to one smooth movement that results in the gun coming up on target, every time. The gun feels like an extension of my body. The gun patterns 60/40 and laterally, is dead nuts on.
It has an adjustable comb but I've never felt the need to make any changes.
Here's a couple of pics.
