Over the last 40 plus years I ran alot of "new on the market hot rod saws" when I was cut & skid logging softwood in the 1970's, 1980's, '90s and then into the 2000's as an arborist.
1976 came the 162 Huskies that really changed the market at the time . 1979 I was running a Jonsereds 910 at 15lbs and 87cc with a 18"-20" b/c for cutting everything from 8" up to 36" dbh spruce. No mods and went along time on a tank of fuel. Heavier 920 and later 930 replaced the 910.
Small wood only saws was a Stihl 038 in 1980 Jonsereds 630 in 1982 , and light weight new generation Stihl 034 in '84. Tried a 038 Mag in 1985 but in 1986 my 85cc 064 (weight of a 046) replaced all those saws, so good I bought 2. Still running 18"-20" b_c.
044 did well for me in 1988 into the 1990's. New 066 Mag in 1992 was a powerhouse but never logged with it, kept a 064 as a main saw with the 044 as backup.
I switched to Husky around 2000 doing arb work with a 372XP OE, the onto a 346XP, 338XPT along with my MS200T and 395XP.
Today still running a 562XP , 536 LiXP , V2 MS261CM and rebuilt my old 066 Mags.
Culled the herd pretty good, just waiting for the next "new hot rod saw"...
Doing arb work I think MS500I
