@Willard funny you mention the jonny 630 at 4.4hp. My brother has a 555 and a 562 and my 630 seems to have alot more torque. But both cut neck and neck for speed. The 630 tolerated longer bars much better. I've ran 32" on it without any issue. My modded 630 don't mind the long bars one bit. I wouldn't run any more then a 28 max in a pinch only short term on a 555/560/562.

The oiler is a bit stingy in hardwood on a 562 with 28” .050 3/8. Imho I won’t run a 562 with more than a 24, they don’t have enough nuts to bore cut hardwood with anything more than a 24 either. My smurf 6421 64cc is stronger than my 562 was with a 28” bar and it oils better. Maybe this new 562 will be a bit better.

Take that and drop a 30" white oak that's got a heavy lean......and you'll quickly see why people need "much bigger saws".

I agree, that's what 90cc saws are for. I just don't see what a 70cc saw is gonna do that a 562 like that won't.

Work a saw for a living. You find out quick what you're willing to carry that will get the job done. 70-80cc saw is the do it all.

Bore cutting and using a trigger helps.

My modded 7900 will keep up with a stock 390xp and eat a ported 562. Much more torque than the 562 for bore cutting too. 5 cube class (70-80cc) is where it’s at for me and what I do with a 24-28” bar in medium sized hardwood. It’s a matter of using the tool for the job really. When I cut firewood I loved a 562 with just a mm done to it. Great fuel usage to wood cut ratio and good enough power for firewood.

After 20" bar size i like 70cc class saws and larger there better ballanced oil them better and pull them better. Even with a 20" bar I think Im starting to lean towards the 70cc class they just tend to have such a nice spread of power. But the 60cc class handles great with the smaller bars and i use a 20" bar more than any other. Alot of work can be done with a good running 60cc saw and an 18-20" bar. I think both are great classes of saws :)

The stihl 462 looks really hard to beat if you can afford it. I think the main advantage of the 60cc class now is going to be there lower cost. I am having a hard time coming up with any other reason to get something in the 60cc class when the 462 is just as light or lighter and is more powerful(as long as the 462 proves durable which i think it will). Great that we have so many good options. For a lightweight saw with good performance with smaller bars without getting up around the 1000 dollar amount i think the 60cc class will be ideal. For those needing the maximum power/performance in a lightweight saw they will most likely opt for the 462

From what I can tell from the videos the 572/462 are pretty much identical in times. Looks like the 462 picked up roughly 4 sec from stock to ported. Roughly a 20% gain I believe from your videos.

Over the last 40 plus years I ran alot of "new on the market hot rod saws" when I was cut & skid logging softwood in the 1970's, 1980's, '90s and then into the 2000's as an arborist.
1976 came the 162 Huskies that really changed the market at the time . 1979 I was running a Jonsereds 910 at 15lbs and 87cc with a 18"-20" b/c for cutting everything from 8" up to 36" dbh spruce. No mods and went along time on a tank of fuel. Heavier 920 and later 930 replaced the 910.
Small wood only saws was a Stihl 038 in 1980 Jonsereds 630 in 1982 , and light weight new generation Stihl 034 in '84. Tried a 038 Mag in 1985 but in 1986 my 85cc 064 (weight of a 046) replaced all those saws, so good I bought 2. Still running 18"-20" b_c.

044 did well for me in 1988 into the 1990's. New 066 Mag in 1992 was a powerhouse but never logged with it, kept a 064 as a main saw with the 044 as backup.
I switched to Husky around 2000 doing arb work with a 372XP OE, the onto a 346XP, 338XPT along with my MS200T and 395XP.

Today still running a 562XP , 536 LiXP , V2 MS261CM and rebuilt my old 066 Mags.
Culled the herd pretty good, just waiting for the next "new hot rod saw"...
Doing arb work I think MS500I

Let's see what gains there is with the 462. Be nice to see some before and after vids with the same bar and chain.
they seem to run really well even stock and still looks like gain nicely from porting. I knew they are good runners i was mainly concerned with reliability. i can see having one for short bar work myself:) just the money part always slowing down my acquisitions lol

I really do like the looks of the MS462 but for a few extra ounces of weight the 80cc 500i will do everything for me.
Must admit I like the 562 so much for handling I will definitely look into buying the new 562XP Mkll.
Will be a great team 500i, 562mkll, MS261CM vll, T536 LiXP and can't forget the 066 Mags on standby when a big old stump needs lowering.

As I mentioned about my preference for a ms500i, 562XP mkll, ms261 in my tree service fleet.
There is one draw back, working with two different brands with opposite choke and off settings.
May seem like a non issue but when you're making a living with these saws daily it's a PITA.
Real PITA!!

So the only solution I can see is I need to also buy a 572XP, 550XP mkll and a MS462.
Alternate use...Husqvarna one year, Stihl the next.
The extra profit I make in one year not debating on the net during my tree service work hours... leaving it for after hours can easily pay for these extra saws,Lol!

There end of problem and all this debate!!:D
