So I guess there's 3 different clutch covers for the saw, right? The one in the picture (same as mine), the same with 2 holes for the small spike and a large one for the HD spikes?
You might have to drill the holes from behind in the two square areas. Completely different saw... but I had to do that to a old Mcculloch 10-10 to install factory spike.

Are you sure? My 572' cover has no holes like on the 562, and it's a standard cover.

Yes, I had to drill mine out like on a 555. The inside of the casting is cast for the little nuts to sit in.

Not a smart approach at all IMO, cause nearly every saw I sell will want the outer dog. Heck, the 372 comes standard with the outside dog, why not this one. I'm hoping that US saws will have a different set up and the outer dog will be standard. Maybe just ship it with the 372/576 cover to begin with. I sure don't want to be drilling out the side cover every time I sell a saw.

That's what i'm gonna do, for sure. But my real issue is to find the outer spike, It looks like the one I ordered from HLSupply isn't the right one, and I can't find the good one, even the small version...

Just for kicks have you tried the small standard 372 outside dog? The bar stud pattern has to be similar, there both large mount.

Part you need to order is: 590 261 001.

It includes the screws and nuts.

Thanks, but I can't find it anywhere for now... HD spikes aren't used in Europe most of time, I suppose I'll have to wait 'till the saw hit the US market.

OK, we might be talking different kits here, so a little re-cap if anyone is getting confused.

Part number above, 590 261 001 is for the standard outside dog to fit the cover that is on your saw.

The HD or W spike kit is part number 589 772 101. It includes both dogs and all the hardware including a roller chain catcher.

Again, neither of the 372/390 outer dogs will fit on the standard cover that is on your saw. So, you would need to get a 372/390 side cover in order to use the HD dogs.

So if a person was in the market for a 70cc saw would you go ahead and pick up a 576 xp or wait for the 572/565 or 462?

576 has always been a very underrated saw, and that's the way it will go out. But unless anyone is afraid of "new" stuff, I'd wait until these news saws come out.

And let's be real; how many guys on this site don't have a saw, (or dozens of saws), to run for the next 5 months? :)

Being as I already have a 261C-M and 562xp I'm not afraid of the new stuff. Also means I can wait. Now which saw do I liquidate when the new one enters the stable?
