What is your Plan with that?

I'm not sure I have one. I looks like a good idea really. It allows the floor of the outlet to be out of the way of escaping exhaust flow without having to make the flange overly large.

My bet is to stare at it longer and try to see what they added in for fuel economy, emissions and reliability to the port architecture. Then just remove all of that crap.

My guess, like anyone cares, is increase compression, advance ignition timing (to make more NOx), increase tranny timing.

Is it a strato?

Yep....it's a strato.

I'm having to work on these new saws in my "spare time". I've got a few tree service guys that need their work saws.....and that has to come first.

Sounds like the 261 works so well that they are modeling their new listings with the same tech, just sized differently.

I agree. That saw is a little monster after mods and break in. But....I haven't found as large of gain in the 362C. To me....that is odd.

Who's gonna be the first to gut a 462 strato, the 261 kinda likes it...

already done, but i don't think it has made a huge difference from the feel. A good muffler mod with timing advance make's more difference for that saw in my opinion (except from porting/squish cut).

I look for ways to get the spitback to mix in the air filter base. In my humble opinion, that helps as much as gutting the area under the carb.

here on a 261, works basically the same way on the 462, but i think it's not really worth the work on that saw after some testing.

Yeppers ... here’s a vid of a ported 241c with stratos intact and stock timing ... it’s a Hotsaws101 insane-0-ized version and boy does she rip ! The owner did some “tweaking” and has the chain dialed in for this timber ... enjoy !
