You know you have an issue when you would part with a 372xp over your beloved 038 Magnum....

Imo if I were to use one all day for a living I'd appreciate the better AV of 365/372 and the better filter. That's just me though, never owned a 038. Want to try one sometime to see what there about.

Why would you disagree? Just looking for peoples pros and cons of both. Is it a vintage thing or a usability thing?
My opinion, it's not only a usability thing, but newer vs older tech thing, weight thing, anti-vib thing. Again, I have only run the 038 Super, the Mag may very well be different, but IMHO the 372 is decidedly faster and stronger. I can certainly appreciate what they are though.

I prefer torque too. It's the reason I put 75cc topend on my 372 X-Torq and it's the reason I frigin love my 288. It doesn't scream at 14k but you can pry on it and it just doesn't stop. You've really got me wanting to run one of dem dare 038 mags.
My 288lite is ported, messed wiff piston, bumped timing, and had my ol saw mech drill on da carb n set it up...
Its 4stroking heavy in da cut at 12 plus! Im skeerd to lean it out a lil.
Not sure why that saw is sooo angry.
But I want it to last awhile..

I like to tune fat, but no four stroking in the cut. That doesn't seem too healthy...

Don't be skeerededed, twist that pesky little H screw clockwise and see what she's got;). All kidding aside I hear ya on wanting it to last. And btw, holding 12k+ in the cut is already screaming pretty good IMHO. Mine is still stock except for BG delete. I'm gonna port it eventually but I kinda want to wait til I got my lathe so I can do it right.

No 4-stroking in the cut here, but like a little when if I lift in the cut. Let er eat man, run 32:1 in your ported saw to add more protection for your engine spinning higher RPM. It'll be aight.

(Puts finger on nose and says "no oil thread!")

Need to run a Mag then with at least a twin port oem muffler..

I was not aware of that..
Im skeerd that too many revs would take da bottom end out.
The 288 has the same bottom end parts as a 394XP. Think on that for a second. The 288 guts are so strong that husky put a 2mm larger piston on it and it safely turns the rpms you're at with the heavier slug. Tune it up brother!
