You know you have an issue when you would part with a 372xp over your beloved 038 Magnum....

I put them both next to each other with the same bar and chain, liked this 038 mag more still...

only reason there's a 044 here. wanted to run em side by side. like em both. 2 diff animals, tho.

both fresh piston/ rings, -gasket. 038m has 3 port muff, 044, opened up single port.

I prefer torque too. It's the reason I put 75cc topend on my 372 X-Torq and it's the reason I frigin love my 288. It doesn't scream at 14k but you can pry on it and it just doesn't stop. You've really got me wanting to run one of dem dare 038 mags.

agreed. had both mmws 2171 with 70cc and mmws 2171 with 75cc. kept the 75cc one for now. never ran a 038 but I absolutely love my hybrid.

Agreed, I should have bought a big bore kit for the 372, but I read from a few people across forums to stick to the 70cc one. Damn it.. I admit that everything about the 372 with how it feels, weighs, AV etc is better than this mag but I just find myself wanting to pick up the mag more. I am only a firewood hoarder now, my messing around on a farm days are gone and my local tree surgeon drops off all the big stuff that he can't be bothered to split down. This mag just loves it and I really don't see the weight as an issue. Plus I have just spent the winter stripping it down, repainting and rebuilding everything (I mean everything) with new/used OEM apart from the covers. It runs like brand new, in 30 years time if I still have it it will still be running good.

A question to all you Husqvarna guys, do you find that the 372 should have been designed with a smaller squish area, I mean this one is excessive or is it just the Meteor P&C kit? I have looked at a 268 pop up, but just have not got round to it.

The 75cc top end they are referring to is the OEM XPW top end, not an AM big bore.

Now I can't say whether it's the 75cc top end is better than the OE top end or not, but my XPW gained a fair bit of attitude when I ported it. Was a good strong runner in stock form as well

Wasn't this only available on the x-torq?
No the the X-Torq is a different design all together, even when compared to the OE 372 being that the XT is a stratofied saw. The 372 XPW was a factory version of the 372XP that sported a full wrap handle and a 75cc top end. Production of the XPW died shortly before the OE 372's and then our only option became X-Torq. The top end was originally produced on the 375K cut off saw. I got a P&C off of a junk 375k for the conversion on my X-Torq. I ported my XT and it ran strong, neck and neck with my brothers ported XPW but his had better torque and ever since we compared the two I've wanted a "W" kit for my saw. OEM kits are still available but they are a little north of $200 if I recall. I recently did a thread on the conversion + porting and there's a couple videos of the end product toward the end.

I sold a nice 372 to a friend that had a gasket delete and an opened up muffler.
It ran good and he loves the saw.
6 months later he brings me a tip find 038 mag that had its tank handle crushed.
The saw itself had done less than 6 tanks of fuel, like new.

Chinese tank handle, full rebuild due to sitting with moisture in it, and ported it.

After he took it out and ran it, he rang me asking how much I thought he could sell the 372 for ha ha

Here it is running semi chisel work chain in dry hardwood tuned to around 14000 rpm

Thank you OP for lowering the retail of 372's I'll take them :). Torque is very decieving.
