Yes I think your right you do one and that's the best axe great balance then you find another and you do that one and it's even better and you've forgot about the one before

I got a free kelly perfect double bit today and check out this cut off saw my neighbors family used it for decades i have no idea how old it is it was powered by a 51 ford car they would put the car on blocks and run it 20 miles an hour with a large leather strap he said it could cut locust post for coal mines in seconds.

I found a reference for a 1921 fafnir cut off saw but no pics it could very well be that old or older.

I think Wilhelm's 40" handle was a one of a kind made by a blacksmith if I remember correctly. Real nice. I would love to swing that.

I got the BigLeaf ones off eBay, wanted the two big ones to try them out and added the small ones to make shipping more affordable divided over more articles.
The small ones are nice, very lightweight, feel good in the hands.
The big ax is a total fail from my point of view, I am considering to get rid of it but for now it looks good making the others some company while hanging on the wall.
The ax/maul hybrid is OK, but it is no where close my wooden handled ax, I also do not like the flexibility of the fiberglass handle, it just feels wrong. Also the handle it too short for my liking.

I have been looking at local shops and couldn't find axes with a head shaped like mine.
I have now started asking around for a blacksmith that would be willing to copy/replicate my ax - so far unsuccessfully, but I am not giving up.
This ax works wonders in oak and beech and feels best with a 40" wooden handle.
It splits knot free oak like glass shatters falling onto concrete from up high, have to UP a few clips to the Tube and post them.

There are no markings on the head indicating any origin and that ax is in my possession since my late teen years.
It could easily be a hand made ax considering blacksmiths were plentiful here back in the days.

I too want one as a spare.
If I ever find a source I'll try remember You!

Getting mine copied by a blacksmith seems to be a good idea at this point.

Here is my grandfathers axe.its a good chance I will send this to BUCKIN' for a handle sometime soon. I use it to bang wedges when I cut.

Here is my grandfather on my Dads sides double bit Collins. What's strange is it says The Collins Co. And right under it it says Collinsville Ill. Well I've known The Collins Co. To be in Hartford Conneticut.
This one will get a BUCKIN Special handle as well.
The polished spot in the center is getting my family coat of arms etched into it as I post this.
Here are a couple other heads that were my grandfathers on my moms sides.On the left is a Plumb hatchet head and the right I don't what brand, but it has a # on it.

I have about 15 more heads that I pick up here and there.
