Site admin has the ability to block his ip address so he can no longer view this site as a guest.
We tried.
Jim, while in theory true in practice almost impossible. In another discussion thread about *s-wordhead Bruce looked up IP address, most of us are in the 100 to 300 for different IP's that we have accessed the forum from. Gone are the days that people only cruise the internet from their desktop computer at home...
Exactly.
Trust me, it works, those IT guys know their stuff. There should be a log of every ip address he ever logged on with.
It was attempted here, and due to the use of cellular networks, the last IP address he used was also tied to twenty seven members in good standing.
But when using a cellular network the IP addresses can vary wildly.
Yes.
Yeap I found that out the other day. Some people on here have used a couple hundred different IP's
I'm suspicious....we should ban them....

LOL!

27 Members in good standing using the same network as Jason? Was he at a GTG or something? Are these 27 members fronting for him (I can't believe this) or did he somehow get their log ins ?

Maybe Bruce @Gentleman or Erik @malk315 can provide some technical insight behind this aspect.

Cellular networks have overlaps. IP addresses are different than Log In, and Account information. Back before wireless, and cell service, when IT travelled via hardline it was easy to block someone. Proxy servers, wireless, etc have made it very difficult.

Can't like any of this... this is absolutely appalling.

So glad I didn't send anything to him. If I do have a saw done, it will got to MM, srcarr, or mdavlee. Or I will get the proper port timing technique through my thick skull and do it myself...

Yep. The Doc and Rattler too.

And Brad. And Carl Miller. But we don't need a list, we have a builder's review section now!

Don't forget AWOL, Redfin, and the Silver Eagle Saws, CFB!
I am sure there are a few more as well.

You can always justify another saw.

Looks like he used the perfect setting on the welder. Heat just right. [emoji106]

I've done better work with a torch and a wire coat hanger. This guy is amazing. I actually considered having him do a saw a couple of times. It just didn't feel right. I'm glad I passed or I'd be tearing it apart now.

Hey Guys-

I built the WiFi network at Dan's place so he could have WiFi in the house and the garage and roam around seamlessly etc. like a campus setup.

When we hosted the last GTG at Dan's I setup a separate SSID w/ separate WiFi password so folks attending the GTG could use Dan's Comcast connection to stay up to date with OPE and the like and not burn their cellular data and some cell providers don't work well at Dan's (Verizon is pretty good, others not so good).

Certainly this is likely how 27 members would get on OPE w/ the same IP because the connection at Dan's shares one IP address assigned by Comcast and throughout the GTG it wouldn't have changed. Have no idea how Jason could have logged in w/ the same IP address as Dan's Comcast IP because he wasn't there (and Comcast owns the public IP in use at Dan's that his router shares for everyone -- it would never be assigned by the cellular provider Jason uses for instance out in Missouri).

But they other way around could be possible, someone who knows Jason's OPE username/password could try and login from the GTG as Jason. I'm not suggesting that's what happened and I don't want to raise any kind of a ruckus -- just helping explain a scenario where a lot of members could have the same IP -- at Dan's GTG the WiFi all w/ the same IP going outbound was used by a lot of members visiting -- that is definitely something that happened.

At the NY GTG -- I setup a live stream there too and used Steve/Scott's internet connection there but didn't open that up for folks to get on OPE and such because we had just enough bandwidth for the live stream, so the WiFi in NY was kept closed. So you wouldn't see a bunch of folks w/ the same IP -- they would all be different because they would all be using cellular and each device would have it's own public IP assigned by the cell provider.

That's all I've got in my own experience with this. Certainly don't want to raise a ruckus -- definitely odd if Jason was shown as logging in from the same IP as 27 other members... weird.

Read through this one at lunchtime today...another f'n abortion in a long, still unknown number of abortions, that'll eventually surface. This boy just needs a good ol' fashioned trip down a dark country road!!

Good on the folks stepping up to the plate and seeing this through!!

when you received the "unicorn" at Dan's GTG in Nov. you suspected something. I know you well enough to know you had things to say but didn't want to air them out. To be honest I got the same queasy feeling from Dan about that saw( and Jason) at that time.
it takes effort and skill to be a good crook. Jason has both.

the worst thing in life is wasted talent

skip to about 1:20 if you don't wanna see a bit of a great movie....and OBTW Micky was better then Joe D...( and Im Italian)

"Sonny" from this movie has some of the best life advice -- great quotes and great movie!
I also like the scene when he tells "C" that he got off cheap when that guy owes him $20 and Sonny tells him "It cost $20 to get rid of him for ever -- he will never bother you again, you got off cheap! Forget-about-it!"
