Hey Ken, so are you saying that by beveling the leading edge of the depth gauge it helps to give more consistent regulation of the depth of bite on the cutter thereby smoothing out the performance and avoiding chatter? I don't currently bevel the leading edges. And, on chains that are worn that far back, I have to keep the gauges at .025 in order to avoid chatter. If beveling them will fix that problem....then I will definitely adopt your approach on future chains so I can make them a bit more aggressive without sacrificing smoothness!!! Thanks for the tip!
