Your definitely right, probably used to save weight or $. Imo they are fine until you use them in wet conditions, get oil on your hands or sweat (pretty much a guaranteed using a chainsaw). A rubber grip of some sort like they do on metal handles would be great.
or blood. when you're in a hurry. two different times.:rolleyes:

At $800 I'm suddenly way less interested. Liking my ported 2159 for a light weapon...

The 261, 362, and this saw use a hollow plastic handlebar. I've yet to see that be an issue. I'd imagine it is used to save a couple of ounces.
They’re actually quite durable under normal use, now being dropped out of a bucket truck does them in but it also wrecked the top cover and busted the fins on the 362’s jug so pretty sure a metal handle would have been done too.

No sir. There was a thread on here a long time back where various members who happened to make a living from their saws that commented. That's where I read it from.
But I C whats happening here.

It doesn’t really much matter to me. A little nose or tail heavy is fine in a ground saw. Now for me a climbing saw needs to be well balanced or my shoulders will let me know at the end of the day. Mostly this subject is such an arbitrary personal preference thing it kind of seems silly to be discussing it.

I'm trying to make a point....nothing more. People tend to make blanket statements about things that are actually opinions rather than facts. On another forum I frequent it is about Holley VS Edelbrock. Here it's about Stihl VS Husqvarna or oil or balance.

I'm not trying to make you look bad Jeffus. I'm just trying to get folks to be more objective about opinions. Especially second hand opinions.

My point exactly.

Personally, I only care about that fore to aft balance deal when I'm carrying a saw. Even then I just hope not to have it so nose heavy that I have to use two hands to hold it up.

Yes sir. I personally prefer a fairly balanced saw. I just pretty much cut firewood.
I'm constantly trying to learn. I try things out. If they work,
I continue, if they don't, I go back to what works.
But I do understand it is personal preference. Probably like anything else, ask 10 loggers, probably get 10 different responses.

I wanna know more about the fatigue factor, these things are a deciding factor in my chainsaw purchases.

Keystone State.
Probably better pass on this saw then. It will definitely leave your mangina drippy by lunch time.

I assume its a magnesium alloy of some type? If its lighter than a traditional piston it should make the saw snappier and have less stress on the crank assembly. If they didn't lighten that as well.

I believe the crank is the same as the type 2 362.
