If wanting to reduce weight couldn't one use a windowed piston from a 266 or a 268?

I don't like Windows in them myself. I've tried it both ways and lost ground to the one without windows.

The windows thing isn't just a windows thing. So much else needs done for that to even be necessary and noticeable.
And a piston will crack after grinding on it if you remove to much in the wrong places. I guess I'll compare it to notching a load bearing beam in a house.

I'd like to see a picture comparison of the Gen 1 piston vs. Gen 2 piston. The picture he shows of the piston looks the same as the old piston and the video on his eBay page is the same video as his old video. I messaged him as to how much popup the Gen 2 has and he said it was 0.035". That is exactly what he stated the Gen 1 had. The write ups I read of the piston showed very little boost in compression. I am very skeptical that there is even a Gen 2 piston. I really really want one but I want a definite bang for my buck and boost in compression.

I agree, for that many clams, I want a picture. Wierd that it doesn't show two options when you purchase, gen 1 or 2???

They have to be different if the weight is 7 grams different between gen2 & gen1, yep quarter ounce, ....

Lots of little places a piston can lose weight that all add up.

1/2 ounce is significant though, especially for our dinky little saw pistons. Any loss in weight is multiplied when it is put in motion.

You guys see any benefits to the ceramic hybrid bearings?or full ceramic.looks like the full ceramic ones would easily chip or even come completely apart causing mass destruction.

A few people like those bearing for less resistance and no break in. I've never tried any so I can't say for sure. I may do that soon though.

Curious too if the ceramic is an advantage.

I've heard they are made for super high rpm applications, saws are considered slow??
