It's been a LOT longer than that! Ask someone where his famous 372 came from that he somehow became "famous" for.

Wait, was that my outside voice?!
The point being, these are anything but “Recent Developments”. Really just saying it for googlers that may end up reading here

As for electric (etc) vehicles, if you add in the manufacturing, disposal, and generating the electric, all (if any) gains to the environment get wiped out.

False

Do you have any citations to back up your claims?

… but for now I think it is just a con game.
Go drive a Tesla Model 3 Performance and then tell me it's a con game. They are absolutely fantastic vehickes (and insanely fast 3.2s 0-60).

This article is pretty good on the benefits of hybrids, but the article is based on a comparison of driving
both a hybrid and a conventional car 160,000 miles:
https://science.howstuffworks.com/s...-production-waste-offset-hybrid-benefits2.htm

This article is also good, but indicates that the bottom line to real energy conservation is the changing of behaviors, not the type of car you drive:

Good stuff, but while he talks about how electric generation will become cleaner, he leaves out how engines are also becoming cleaner. I can look at the tail pipe of my 2019 F-150 Eco Boost and compare it to the tailpipe of my 2006 Mustang and see an obvious difference. There is obvious soot in the Mustang's tail pipes, there is none in the F-150s.

In areas where electric is generated by coal, or for larger vehicles, the advantage is not clear cut. He also did not talk about the availability of enough lithium to convert all vehicles … it is not there!

There are some EGR studies involving Hydrogen that almost eliminate emissions … IMO, it is the future.

Smart car hits squirrel, occupants require airlift to hospital, squirrel refuses treatment, goes off to find more nuts!
