7/26 ship date last I checked, getting close. For a novice user I'd think a 562 would work just fine and save a bit of weight. As long as it's not having to cut from both sides with a 24" often it will have plenty of power to run a 24" on a few cuts for the trunk and we all know the rest are going to be sub 20".
Too bad the 562 MK2 isn't available yet.
Don’t get me wrong, the 5-series saws can be great. I just don’t really care for their running characteristics after getting used to some of my other saws. A ported 562 or 572 can be a real pleasure to run…but in stock form, I would take the 400 over the 572 for the size wood the OP mentioned. What changed your mind? 462 is an awesome saw
Novice users shouldn't be burying anything except their pecker..but..this is the internet after all..so..he could try a ported 500i with every single thing west coast saws makes for it.
Or
A 362 c-m if he wants to experience pure ecstasy.
my answer should be the winnerI'm surprised not a single soul said a ported 30 year old 064 yet.
The internet is changing.

we all know how much bigger of a saw is needed when you only need a 50 or 60 cc saw
husky lovers need bigger saws to go with their small peckers
so husky rule of thumb saw cc size is 1.5 cc size used
so 592 is the answer
its called the husky compensationI love when new guys join and ask about a saw to cut a few cords worth of 18" firewood sized logs and they get the ported 661/395 with a 36" cannon light bar type recommendations lol !

lol no need to anymore...or one that's been out of production for decades,
Pop a Nitro Dally, you're seizing up! Lol
I guess I should mention it’s not for me. I’m somewhere above novice.462 should be plenty, obviously if you have the extra cash a 500i. if you're just cutting firewood that should be more than enough. Depending on the scale of work and how often you will use it I wouldn't get carried away with anything too fancy. Just learn how to identify tension and compression on logs and how to keep that chain out of the dirt.
