Should have done a thread on this one. There is definitely a specific order everything needs be assembled. I’ve only done one of these top handle swaps, and it was a while ago. Only a little cussing and it’s back together.

Echo 2511T top handle replacement handle. Urrrrggg

step one, remove every last fitting/grommet misc parts off the old top handle and install on the bare piece of plastic you bought

Homelite 330 that was dropped off to me at work to be repaired. Found dirty carb and slightly stiff metering diaphragm. Finally got the carb for my dad's MS251 that I ordered December 10th. Also have to look at a little hedge trimmer that came in yesterday. Last project is to lookup and get the parts for my buddy's outboard.

Dad's MS 251 is all back together and running! New aftermarket Chinese carburetor, recoil retensioned, and a new Oregon full chisel chain installed. Will be wood testing and cleaning it up this weekend. Chain is a 22lpx068g .325 .063 68 DL for the 18" bar.

No, Stihl is making some of their models here in the USA. While my 462 was made in Germany, my 261 and 362 were both made in USA.

USA S/Ns start with either 2 or 5. However, the carbs are all made by ZAMA in China!

Did you know that stihl purchased zama years ago?

Yes. While a lot of people favor Walbro, the ZAMA on my 044 always worked well and is still on it. (1 rebuild since new in 12/92)

Stihl bought Zama Japan KK and Zama Corporation, Ltd., Hongkong from 12/31/2008 on.

Zama USA was bought by a third party (Siix Corporation und Iida Denki Kogyo Co., Ltd.) a japanese manufactor of ignition systems and electronic components. Zama USA does mainly develop and sell diaphragm carburetors for other small engine manufactors.
