Ended up with 3 small orange dots on left side of AF cover. The flippy cab direction sticker would have covered it but it stuck to the backing I put it on to keep exactly that from happening.

Got parts ordered as well to do the HO oil pump upgrade. Control bolt and plunger....

Stihls jam the oil spring driver as they tighten against their retaining clip when they loosen. Then you havta cut off the retainer clip and hope the spring driver and clutch drum aint fubar’d. Guaranteed you’re buying a new clip and washer

I’m not sure which is worse, but I gotta tell you, each have their own quirks
Very well said Kevin.

I picked up a blue 6400 a bit ago and want to swap on a 7910 top end ..

Luckily it doesn't have that muffler...

Hell yeah, you're even luckier you have that sweet 6421 catalytic converter muffler! 'Fixed' a couple of those recently.

Nice, the easy one. Fire it up and go to work. Just like my first before I finally put the 7910 top end I had had for two years on it. Ran so good as was it was hard to tear into it. Finally broke down. Was my first chainsaw and will always have a special place in my heart. Pictured with second and third siblings in the early days of my disorder. IMG_2949.JPG

All these damn Hooskies losing their clutches. Lol
Good thing I don't have any of those pro outboard clutch saws!

I occasionally fire up my saws without the clutch cover, it is scary looking at the clutch drum spinning - never had one fly off.
I only do it to check oil flow though.

They’ll fly off on a inboard clutch saw too I believe. Destroys the e clip and everything flys out.

I removed the limiter on the Hi for the MS391. I tried to pull it through all the plastic, but that did not work. The tab would not pull through (the limiter looks just like the ones in a MS460).

So I partially took the plastic apart, removed the limiter (that was still on my drywall screw), fished a plastic part that dropped down with needle nose pliers, and did the muffler mod. It sounds good.

Some pics of the offending plastic parts, and my muffler mod.

That's not gonna do much Mike. I'd open up the outlet under the deflector

Two quarter inch holes should make a nice difference on a stock saw of this size. Keep in mind these holes are not screened, so they will make a difference.

Two quarter inch holes will also make a nice difference on stock 460s. Gives you a nice bump in performance w/o a ton of extra noise.

All of the "pros" I do this for are very happy with the results, although I will not claim it is max performance, just a good balance between performance and noise level. I know it makes a difference because I have to adjust the tune.

I flung a clutch off of my 266 when I first got it running. Was winter time and the clutch landed on some ice, it just sat right there in that one spot and spun for quite some time. Was kinda comical, yet somehow graceful at the same time pulling off such a feat.

Yup, the whole assembly popped off, clutch drum sat and spun for better part of 30 seconds.

If you have to adjust tune then you are gaining for sure. I don't screen any on mine.

I would have gone bigger Mike. If you were going with 1/4" I would have drilled 4. Or 2 bigger holes.
