Ok Dave, thanks for asking.

Light at end of tunnel is approaching. Business partner out for 8 weeks Maternity resuming work this Wednesday.

I worked the last 7 days with 4 more to go. Last week, over 80 hours. Another 60 to go.

Last vacation was Dec 2017. First one this year starts this Friday for a week. Planning on cutting and splitting firewood. Perhaps milling as well.

How are you, Mrs T and Cooper doing?
Sounds like you are over due for a vacation. Lindsey is doing good and Cooper is just growing like a weed. I was showing him how to use a screwdriver yesterday and he picked right up on it. IMG-20180715-WA0004.jpg

Al, ya made me feel better, I thought this Sh** just happened to me!!!

Hope it all comes together.

Hey, I love Elastostart. Often the rope is a hair longer than others, and does not have the violent "stop", which really helps the more fragile AM recoils last longer.

So after 30 minutes of using this

View attachment 132990

I came up with 1 rusty flooring nail, 25 thorn scratches and likely poison ivy.

Wifey walks out, says WTF are u doing. I tell her. She says “Pray to St. Anthony”. I say “Can u do it for me? I haven’t been in Church in so long, he don’t remember me”. She’s says she will, I figured it can’t hurt.

So I pray a bit, then suddenly realize that I have this tool

So I start sweeping. 15 minutes later a large snap occurs. Elated, I look under it. I found it! Nope, found the $10 replaceable still available spring.

I figured 5 more min, then I gotta get ready for work. On the last push, “Click”.

incase you should need a clutch later, them 357/359 clutches is bolt on.
If your really desperate, a 562 with a tick spacer will also work, key is to eliminate most of the clutch drum play since 560/562 clutch hub is thinner compared to a 262 clutch.

Your build is as always very nice to see Al, your doing some top notch work

Do you have to run the 503 52 12-02 spacer washer with the 357/359 clutch Tor, or can it be eliminated?

good question Joe, I've seen several 262 clutch drums, some didnt have the spacer at all, but the clutch hub thickness is the same 357 vs 262, 13.2mm thick.
560/562 clutch hub is just 11mm thick.
As a general rule its just to pay attention to how much play the drum has side way, this is something even new saws can have to much of, sometime we need a washer, sometimes not.

Its a very long opening, and it will be stretched and opened towards the center after welding is completed. This one is for @longleaf and he has requested a single opening. The customer gets what the customer wants.
Nice That is exactly what I was looking for

I have an MS 391 on my bench. Needs a tune up, but the guy also wants a muff mod. Don't want to do it unless I can remove the carb limiters, looks like a nightmare to get in there.

Any easy way to remove carb limiters on a MS 391, this is not one of the models I'm familiar with.

Thanks.

Doc had me in tears laughing so hard, guess we have all lost a clutch or two, glad you got some vacation time coming soon, long over due!

I started a 660 w/o the clutch cover one time, saw that clutch start to expand and shut it down so fast your head would spin. I was shakin and out of breath, surprised it all stayed together. (Note to self, don't do that again!!!).

I've had a couple come loose, turned the saw on its side and saved them from flying off. Probably not the smartest thing to do but it's kind of a knee jerk reaction.

I don't recall having any come apart like doc's yet..

All these damn Hooskies losing their clutches. Lol
Stihls jam the oil spring driver as they tighten against their retaining clip when they loosen. Then you havta cut off the retainer clip and hope the spring driver and clutch drum aint fubar’d. Guaranteed you’re buying a new clip and washer

I’m not sure which is worse, but I gotta tell you, each have their own quirks
