Regarding an 064, the piece that drives the oil pump gear was broke off and missing. If memory serves me correctly this washer isn’t needed with the larger shoe retainers? It was probably bound and broke off.

Worm gears are easy to find. Eliminating that washer may screw up the clutch height.

Found some unfortunate information on my 2100 hybrid dolmar. Has not been oiling good found out the case is cracked in the oil passage so looks like it will need a case half

That is correct - you don't want any kind of a washer behind the clutch with the old-school retainers. The "wings" on those retainers will bind up with the washer and cause issues.

Pulled a Partner 500 off the shelf today.
Going through my checklist seeing what other parts may be needed besided the crank bearings, seals, gasket set and carb kit that I've recently acquired for doing some servicing.

This one appears to have crank case bearings that had seen their better days somewhere in the past.

Top end refresh on the 2000 arctic cat Bearcat 550 Widetrack. 7000 miles and low compression.

Some interesting stuff when compared to a chainsaw:

On this Suzuki 550 cc liquid, the upper transfer ports and exuahst port roof are very FLAT.

Being liquid cooled and no air leaks there is NO scoring on the exauhst side. Only scoring on the intake side! Deep vertical gouges from years of snow ingestion through the airbox which is pretty common.

Not only are the cylinders fed by quad side transfers, there's also two smaller lower transfers on the intake side that feed small upper transfers directly above the intake port. These tiny upper transfers are aimed upward right at the combustion chamber on a very steep angle. So there's 6 transfer upper transfer ports per cylinder.

On the quad transfer side: The large primaries are angled upward but almost mid-cylinder. Not as steep as those intake-side rear transfers. The smaller secondary quads are flat. They are closest to the exauhst port and are aimed right across the top of the piston. No staggering. All transfers open at the same time for a very short duration with all sorts of directional flow.

Anyhow, honed the cylinders with hydraulic fluid thinned with gas and using new wiseco pistons:

Got an 041 Super running tonight. Parts bin special. Converted to points, since the SEM electronic ignition crapped out. Fired right up. Now I need to find a full wrap…

I use a large “tea-ball” strainer in my USC to clean all my small parts. Simple green branded purple HD cleaner works the best for me. It doesn’t etch aluminum.

It takes more time, but when I get down to having to split a case, I prefer to fully disassemble, clean, lube, and reassemble it. Dirt on the outside seems to easily make it into the inside somehow. The teaball is easy to load up with the smalls fasteners and parts. It does a good job.

It even maintains the HJ (Holey Jesus) clips that keep the brake parts on the case.
