Nearly done with this saw. It’s fighting me at every turn. Tank vent leaks like a sieve.

Now I’m having clutch drum issues. It won’t rotate freely.

Brake mechanism cover won’t fit as well.

Throttle won’t knock fast idle off.

Again, nothing beats OEM. Nothing.

Al, I just install the AM pump, no problems. One of them oils better than any OEM 044/440 I've ever had!

So the OEM (RED) control lever does not work right on these saws??? Do they work on the 660s???. I'm getting tired of not having fast idle on them.

But, at least OEM chain adjusters just fit right in and work! (not like the 660s).

It could be the trigger thats off Mike. I still need many hours before this gets the MOFO seal of approval and a bar on it.

I wont use the AM pump. You said it best, "one of them oils", but not all.

Wow sounds like you got one that someone said this is my last day so the hell with it. Lol. You got some good darn compression numbers out of it though. :)

One of my 440 oilers is noticeably stronger than it should be, but I have not had any in the 440 or 660s that have failed to oil adequately.

I have more of an issue with the chain adjusters, control levers and fuel caps on the 660s.

Spare 262 xpg handle bar, used in 1990-1991....has old stiff wires, cracked handle bar tube, + a tad to short for what I planed to do
_DSC4986.jpg

Marked for the wire attachment we use on 1993 and newer, and we're gone let the new shrimp tube take care of the last issue I plan to fix as well
_DSC4987.jpg

Equipment for the task + a couple NLA parts for 262, and a couple wire contacts
_DSC4988.jpg

New wires mounted
_DSC4989.jpg

Finished with da work, and ready for use, resistance is around 4,2-4,3 ohm.

Blowers are the Debil!
BR 380 no start, pop, cough, backfire or even kickback.
Thing looks almost new.

130lbs. comp.
rebuilt carb and a new china carb
Tried 2 coils, both with strong spark. Jumps 7/16" with blue color.

Guess i can use it to set that Husky 365 on it to get the saw off the floor.

Back to fixin this last 4-mix motor. I seem to be able to make these run, a fact that i am not proud of.

Kohler KT series engine, will run for an hour and then shut off, will not restart until it has cooled off. The oil drain back hole in the block is too small, it is filling the valve cover full of oil and losing the vacuum signal to the fuel pump. Been going round and round with Kohler over this, they finally said "We don't know what else to do." Need another place to draw vacuum from, preferably somewhere high up on the engine...

Problem solved.

Replaced the short husky tube and left hand throttle with a proper part.

Nice fix on the vacuum port.
Beats grinding out the oil drain hole and then cleaning out the motor .

Now what happens when most of the oil is trapped up in the motor
I can see smoke and bottom end issues.
Hope Kohler fixes their design.

I have to say, thats one nice thing Tecumseh did was have a pipe threaded hole up near the oil fill in the block for the fuel pump pulse.

Ms 250 not oiling and wouldnt idle. Carb gunked up, didn’t get low side clean the first time. tore down to vac and pressure test thinking was prob cooked clutch side oil seal from not oiling. No leaks held for 20 min on pressure and 10 on vac. Back to the carb to find I didn’t get it fully cleaned on the low side. Running like a champ now, all the bar oil was running out the case side because of all the trash between bar and case. Saw is very well taken care of ;-) covered in funk. Never blown off or even wiped off.
Recoil was caked in so much crap I don’t know how it got any airflow. Chain sharpened and bar dressed. See how it looks next time I see it.

Nah. Not too expensive.

Cutting grass is not my thing.
Don't water or fertilize it that just makes it grow.
Grass only grows so tall then it falls over.

My neighbor cuts my grass more than i do. He likes a clean looking front yard.
I fix his mower for parts cost.

Prepped many SB chevy heads oil drains .

Kohler should get this right, it's just gravity.
