I stopped bothering with compression testers. The cheap ones anyway... waste of time. I know when a saw feels “right” and has good compression... and verify it looking through exhaust/intake port...that tells you more than a compression tester will.

I'm with Mason here. Had a compression tester, and I knew the results were wrong, then it just plain failed.

I go by feel, and I know when it is there!

The saw feels like the compression is excellent. I’ll just finish putting it together and see how it runs. I think my compression tester isn’t too reliable anyway. I almost never get the same two numbers on a saw. I have better ones but they are 60 miles away.

Then I would run it for sure if it feels good

Making more progress on the 064. I checked the compression for the heck of it and it’s only 110 psi. I hope it is because it’s not broken in yet.

Wasn't there an issue where you could put a 460 piston in as it's the same diameter but wrong crown heights?

Went dumpster diving and found these two saws in need of attention. Had a few parts left over, not sure where they go.

I should use the HDA 120 and throw HDA87 out, right? :bash: Forgot, 3 shoe clutches on both.

Today was a good day....... Picked up more side work, spoke with a logger about being his “maint tech” as Cooper’s is going out of business, possibly sold 2 saws. Possibly because I he committed but didn’t have cash on him (I won’t take a check, even from a business).

Yes, much stronger with 2
It’s crazy how an under 10hp saw(probably but not sure) need more exhaust opening than a 55hp 350cc two stroke tuned pipe motor, in fairness the exhaust port is at the pipe it 2” and the expansion chamber can deal with a lot of peak pressure....still have a lot to learn!! The other thing “pipe guys” have always said is the smaller choke point helps with high rpm but creates more heat
