Ok so is a m7x1.0x75 totally impossible to find? I got two stipped out m6's on the head of the 142 husky wer the muffler bolts on. Was gonna drill and tap to next size but cant seem to locate the m7x1.0x75. Found it in m8 but u could use that to build a swing set for God sakes. And i dont have enough meat. A lil wallered out.

I don't know I've never used one. I can tell you that the M6 slides halfway into the hole in the back half still threads kind of loosely. Which leads me to another question what is better a heli coil or a timesert.

@T.Roller This is what the SLR looks like inside the muffler. When I did my 7910 I cut the flange off and tacked it to the back of the muffler to help center it. You’ll see what I mean. This advice was given to me by someone with way more experience than myself. @Miller Mod Saws

I think they both have there place.
I would try a m5 helicoil first. If that doesn't work pull it out a go to a m6.
Both of them sizes are very handy to have.

Timeserts are very nice and a solid repair. But they need more meat around them and are expensive.

Helicoil should still work, timeserts are bigger than helicoil....
Try heli first, cheaper and easier to find...
Napa or o-rileys should have them

I have more experience with both than I ever wanted to have....
I can count the times I have jacked up threads on one hand....
I don't think I could hazard a close guess to the number of times I have had to repair them though.... Would have to be in the hundreds somewhere...

Ok so a m5 heli screws into a m6 hole. Use m5 bolt after that? I found a whole metric Heli coil set couple hundred pieces and tools on Amazon for like 35 bucks. One time cert tool kit for one specific size is like 80 bucks.

Your not getting the happy ending with these though Mike. LOL

I'm not done yet Jeff. I will either rebuild the carbs that came with them to get them to work right, or I will modify the choke lever to make OEM carbs work.

I have done work on the cylinders to make 2 of the 3 very respectable performers (when you can get em to run), but I still need to go back into #1 and lower the intake some more. I may also add some bridge ports to that one and see what happens.

5x .8 heli would still have plenty of room to grab
