Surprisingly, piston looks fairly good considering the saw got fed a mixed Stihl and local INA brand oil diet at 50:1.

Top piston ring.

Second piston ring.

Bottom of the piston (GRRRR, OPE is flipping pictures again!).

They perfected the air filtration, only the fines are getting through.
Carb intake, not too bad.

What an idiot I am hauling my PS-6400 with only 3.5kW around, should switch over to the STEEL S440 with 4.0kW.

Bar gurus, what bar mount is this (the middle one)?
DSC04520.JPG

For reference the left one is A041 and the right one D009.

The owner of the saw needs a new bar and chain, I recommended him to go shorter because at mere 4.0kW that saw can't handle .325" 20".

Current B&C setup seems to be .325" pitch, .050" gauge, 76DL

Me too but it's just "well used" though. The covers are sweet that badge, not so much. You wouldn't think it would be so hard to find a nice one.

Also getting the correct Tillotson for a Super from Al. I'll see how it compares to the Japanese Zama that ran so good on this 036 jug.

I worked on a 034 yesterday that had a conventional connecting rod.
Maybe they used this type of connecting rod only on saws build in the USA?

Finally got that MS 461 that was on my bench running again! Came in with a stripped spark plug, but the piston had imploded and ruined the jug.

So, found a used jug on ebay, a Meteor piston, tune up parts, sprocket, chain catch and mechanically it is like new again! (but better with muff mod and limiters removed).

Glad to have this one done!

If anyone was interested, Kevin's @huskihl oiler modification for the 044 should work on the adjustable 034/036 oiler. I used an old oiler to try it on.IMG_0449.JPG I did modify the piston, the ramp and the "scoop" end. The close up photos on an iPhone are poor so I won't even try to post them. Check out his procedures and pictures since it's really similar.

Too bad the hose is such a pain to replace and not as easy as an 044's to swap in and out. It will have to wait until I have an excuse to do so. Maybe this will oil a 28"+ bar...

His method (the same one I did here) worked nicely on my Hybrid.

For all of you fortunate Southern Boys this is a snowblower. Scored this one off of CL. Lucky guy was moving to Florida. It had not been used in a few years. Drained the gas, changed the oil, new plug, and took apart the carb to clean it out. Started on the first pull. I'm not usually that lucky. $125image.jpg image.jpg

Looks clean, probably a $700 machine here.

I used this one last winter. Another Cl score. I really don't need the Toro too but I couldn't pass it up for the price.

The Toros are not cheap. I could make a few bucks off of it. I can't even buy a nice saw for $150! Too bad these are harder to ship lolIMG_4375.JPG

How do you like the tracks? I was undecided when I bought my last one, at the time we had a gravel drive and parking area and I think I should have gone that way. Now were are all paved and like the speed and agility of the wheels...
