Them are a PITA to tinker the bottom end. Keep the rod w/rollers at BDC with a clamp of some sort on the flywheel so the rod won't shift sideways.
Ive got the tool for the bearings , best 13$ ive ever spent

Load the bearing rollers with a strip of sheet metal (copper works great) bent to shape.

Keep them in place with a wide rubber band to slide the rod over them.

Avoid the urge the raise the piston when sliding on the cylinder.

Good idea. The way shown the crank has to be removed

I've gotten more stihl chainsaws and brushcutter/trimmers in than i ever have.
Local dealer is too pushy about getting people to buy new instead of fixing old equipment they tell me.
This one needs carb and lines at least.1497570146879-1243664324.jpg

I would just plan on a re-seal and a new cam, also tank vent.

Just cleaned up this mess...!
It's an 11hp Kawasaki engine from a club car turf(tilt tray buggy)
It was in for a massive oil leak!

You wouldn't think that the oil leak could penetrate through so much mess.
It turned out, that the crankcase gasket had blown, directly above the camshaft(common problem).
This is the 2nd Kawasaki single cylinder air cooled engine I've done in the last couple of months, both with the exact same leak.
1 was a 9hp, this machine being the 11hp.
It's now clean, leak free & back in service, with 1 very happy elderly customer:)

Hmm I have a club car with the 9 hp motor. Where does this leak start? My engine has an unknown amount of hours on it I'll keep an eye and maybe change it in the next year before it starts leaking
