I might be an old far myself, all depends on the age of everyone around me. Here are sum pics of the hole in the bottom of the 357 oil tank. Previous owner installed 2 different sized screws. 1 way to long.2016-01-01 22.48.30.jpg2016-01-01 22.49.04.jpg

ms660, he wants it to as strong as I can get it including a 288 piston swap.

what would you do with it?

plating is ruff to the touch. no play in the rod

Looks like somebody has already been in there. I've yet to see a 066 or 660 with intake and exhaust ports like those. The port shapes just look off to me. You haven't started porting it have you?

I think if it was me I would recommend a different cylinder. You have a reputation to uphold and your customer deserves a good job. Just explain what you found and be clear about your concerns. Nobody likes comebacks.

The rod kinda looks a little chewed up. Did the metal from that eat that cylinder.

no, the rod is discolored from heat. heat changes the temper of the metal, makes it softer when cooled slow.it also changes the size and shape of the hole, bearing race, in the rod.

the plating was damaged by the owner and his tools, or who ever worked on it.
