I decided to have a look in the 045 today. It was dirty and had been somewhat abused in its life.




I got everything cleaned up.


I did find some serious structural damage. Looks like this one will just get cleaned up and go on display.

Some guy on the husky facebook page was posting pics of his porting work, it was extremely nice work, I had no idea who it was, talking to Huskil I figured out it was rattler, man he does pretty work.

While I don’t have a Rattler 395.......I do have a Rattler 394, so I can say that tomorrow will be a VERY good day. Mike does exceptional work, and that’s a very nice saw sir!

Yes, his grinding looks outstanding.

While I don’t have a Rattler 395.......I do have a Rattler 394, so I can say that tomorrow will be a VERY good day. Mike does exceptional work, and that’s a very nice saw sir!

Thanks Mike. I can't wait to rip into some wood with it. Bidding a tree job for next week also....it arrived just in time.

Probably got water in the bottom end.

Earlier in the week - Hybrid; air compressor and 12 volt power supply. I worked on this unit some while back to restore the spark, this time the owner asked me to install a compression release to make starting easier. I did, but it was still pretty hard to pull over so I added a Tee fitting to the air outlet with a valve to prevent any compressing during starting. That helped...



Like a twin cylinder opposed with one cylinder firing and the other comprising the air compressor. The 12 volt power supply consists of extra magnets in the flywheel and winding under the flywheel.



Today was this Titan 40, a saw that was part of a larger batch I picked up last June. These saws had been used by Blount/Oregon for testing, presumably on the kick back tendencies of different chain. They all have the handles modified so they could be clamped in the test rig (I guess).



The Titan 40 shares a number of components with the Power Mac 380 which worked out for me as I needed starter parts and a fuel cap for this one.



Another one ready to go on display when the museum opens, hopefully next month.

Back of the truck "Hooskie Keeper Upper" 2x6" fits in the slots in the bed sides to hold it in place. Keeps gas can secure too.

Thank u DJ! I just copied off of @StuntCockWelder. He has a good idea every once in a while
