Copy, couldn't remember if it was this saw or another, that you mentioned on Egan's fb that you were going to get rid of it

I got snowed in right after I bought it. Was busy for 3 days.

First got my truck stuck trying to move 3-4' first drift. Then got stuck again once dug out. Next day jump in it and wont start. So called in the big dawg to open my 700'.

20190124_115959.jpgjust finished bringing this barn find back to life. Sitting in a barn for probably 20 years the guy said. Intake boot was good luckily. New lines and rebuild the carb and make a foam air cleaner. She's a runner now.

How in the hell does one get this damned oil pump drive gear off of a Husqy 55?!?!? I’ve tried heat, freezing it, been getting a steady dose of lube for 2 days... I separated the cases with the seal still in between then tore the seal aprt to get more room. I have used 3 different pullers and haven’t gotten even a BUDGE out of it. I’m afraid to try to drive it down more to get it moving and lose what little space is there.

I think it’s a 3/4 pipe union that will thread into the oil pump gear. Then you can use a regular 2 or 3 jaw puller. @Onan18 can probably clarify things for us.

I don’t have enough of these saws (or work on enough) to justify spending more than $2. Good call though. Would be much more beneficial if other saws required the same specialty tool.

50/51/55 also 154/254/257/262 all use the same tool. @Canadian farm boy a 3/4" union will work in a pinch but I strongly recommend the proper tool, it's fairly inexpensive.

So a flat head screwdriver is out of the question?:D

I have been known to use a torch and a big flathead in a pinch. ;)

Oh i already tried that. Since I am here asking for advice (and apparently not using the search feature well enough before asking) speaks for itself.

Hook a puller behind the bearing and pull the whole shooting match. A little heat on the pump gear and bearing will help it move easier.
