I think I forgot the pic of this as stated earlier...too damn busy getting caught up in the Bud Light theory, cooking, and my daughter running cockamamie chainsaw deals... the Smoke Hollow 44" in the box. I'll fool with it tomorrow evening or Friday. What the hell, I'm off for the next four days.

It's every bit of the smoker weight they claim it is...about 100-110 lbs. I'm gonna slick it up with either 3" or 4" locking casters as well. Something this heavy...ya need a little rolling help.

Pic of the finished half chickens and the legs...all got nailed quick!! I did manage a couple of legs but my daughter and brother made quick work of the half chickens. Glad it got knocked down and gone...the Char-Broil cooker got it sone again. If on the fence, buy this thing. It's worth the few coins.

On a side note...my 18-yr old daughter been working a deal with my brother in the shop...she's got two Stihl saws of mine, 034 and a 024 of mine sold already...for $300 bucks for both...WTF?? Brothers got cash and done put the cash in her pocket. She says she needs her nails/brows done. I told her I gotta Dremel tool for that *s-word!! Now I gotta get my brother drunk enough so I can get my own damn saws back, ain't that some *s-word??

They ain't coming here no more...damn this!! Lol

So who has built there own smokers?

Let's see some pictures and ideas. I'd like to build a small / medium sized one for myself.
I ran a homebuilt for a long time that was made out of a 55 gallon barrel upright. Do a search for UDS or ugly drum smoker. It worked great but was direct heat, hard to control for some of the low and slow stuff like brisket. However for ribs, chicken, etc it worked great.

Happy Thanksgiving guys & gals.
From yesterday's posts, it certainly looks like there will be some outstanding meals served today.
My rib roast will hit the smoker around 1pm, for an hour of smoke, then either on the grill, or in the oven to finish.
My wife is making a Sweet Potato Soufflé, roasted baby Gold Potato's with Rosemary, the obligatory Green Bean casserole and a Punkin pie.
Just the two of us today, so we didn't go overboard.
Although it's always nice to have the family over, I'm not going to miss having to cook for 30.

Turkey and chicken quarters are on. 225 for 3 hours, then crank it up to 275° for an hour to darken the top :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Man I have never run my smoker so hot like I did last night for the pork belly. hot box end 280 to 300 stack end 250. My belly was at the stack end the whole time and the smoker was blowing smoke like a steam engine lol

Mine is electric, so it won't go higher than that. But it's sealed, so it doesn't use much wood, or smoke much like a wood smoker. I can see a side box okie Joe or one like it in the near future though

This thread is making me hungry. I have some ribs in the smoker as I type, I will get some pics when I pull them. The smoker is a cheap Brinkman R2D2 looking thing, but I have used it quite a bit over the years. I put dry rub on the ribs last night, they will be in smoke for about 3 hours then 4 more in the oven, then a quick trip on the grill with sauce mopped on to finish.
