Cleaned the rest of my garden today, man what a long hot summer, decided to go ahead and roast some poppers, they's be freaking hot!View attachment 38547

1 beer per 2 poppers, they's are hot, probably regret it tomorrow!
I think I'd regret drinking a 12 pack on a school night even more.

Daughter came home from college again this wknd and spent the whole afternoon with me. Had six boneless, skinless chicken breasts...stripped out two for some deep fryer tenders, the other four hit the grill after being marinated in Italian dressing for a few hours. She wanted corn as well so I slicked up a skillet of whole kernel and cream-style corn seasoned with Lords country side meat.

It's funny that you mentioned that. My wife and Buddy were just talking about fried corn last night as we were tending the smoker.

I never heard about it before last night, and now you mentioned it too.

Genius, I guess that I was almost raised on fried corn and corn pudding. It is very hard to beat in my book. esp. corn pudding.

Made this today. Old 15 gallon oil fuel drum. Add some handles, a grate about 3 inches off the bottom, drill some holes and you got a little hobo smoker/cooker. Just get a real hot fire going in it initially to burn it out real good. Did some deer tenderloin and German sausages on it tonight. 1028161729.jpg1028161729a.jpg

Did these tonight on the grill. Strip steaks, I dry aged 21 days.
Medium for my wife and Med Rare for me. Served with Scalloped
Potato's and steamed Cauliflower with Hollandaise sauce.
It didn't suck.

I'm about 24 hours away from smoking 13 skinless pheasants. Any perfect brine recipes? Thoughts on type of smoking wood?

2:1 sugar/salt. Crushed juniper berries, whole black pepper and fresh thyme and sage

Apple/Almond/Cherry wood
I'll give it a try. Thanks

Edit * other than juniper berries. Wife has never seen them. In the produce section or spice aisle?
