Crazy Stuff Randy.

Considering the order of doing port work, I can feel your pain. I know that, at least for me, the transfers are the last step I do (and I learned from you).

That really sucks, goes way beyond tossing a jug away.

I didn't realize there was a problem till I started to install it. Where the plating was lifted, it was binding on the piston. So....I started looking closer.

Was it manufactured in China or Germany? Local dealer went through a shipment and returned several.

I have no idea.

Keep in mind that this is a NIB 372XP OE.

Manufacturing data is 2018 or so.

Most XT models have had a jug made by Husqvarna in house until the last few years. Now most of the new jugs are made by Mahle, and are much better in quality.

This is the first Mahle jug I've ever seen that the plating was lifting on after port work.

I have seen a few 550, 562, and even 572 jugs that were a little flakey in a few small spots, but those have always been jugs that Husqvarna made themselves. Never have I had one that was this bad though. They were always just near the bottom edge, and easily fixed. This is something new to me.

Had a little chip in my hyway cylinder above the exhaust. Just added a little extra bevel on it, worked fine.

How about some JB Weld? ;)

Does it really cost $250 to re-plate a cylinder?

It's pretty obvious during the plating process they got a fly in the ointment .Something got flubbed up .I have no idea what alloy they use weather it's hard nickle or chrome .I would assume the former these days .It's probably a one in 10,000 mistake .
