The plating is loose pretty much everywhere.
Anyone seen this in an OEM jug before.
It's a Mahle cylinder.
I vaguely remember a guy on one of the forums somewhere who bought new saws to strip for parts, selling on ebay etc.
He was finding so many irregularities and faults with cylinder liner/piston castings that he eventually ended up selling the crankcase with the cylinder and piston attached as a complete unit.
From personal experience on a number of saws, I've come across issues, in particular the old Stihl 020t's which had pock mark faults in the cylinder liners
yeah this is correct. sometimes *s-word happens. The not so funny thing is if it seized it would be diagnosed as straight gassed claim denied.
Electrolux to Mahle: We want cheaper prices on the cylinders You are making for us!
Mahle to Electrolux: Sure!
Mahle to their production department: Reduce surface treatment time and completely cut quality checks on all Husqvarna/Electrolux products!
Electrolux CEO: That'll get me millions in bonuses this year.
Husqvarna customers: WTF!!!
Pics?I had the same thing happen to me on a brand new out of the box 550 MK2. almost finished with the porting and then the plating started to flake off. once i started picking at it, it just kept coming off. I still have the cylinder on the shelf.
Bestest explanation of what happened.Electrolux to Mahle: We want cheaper prices on the cylinders You are making for us!
Ill take some pics and post em.
That's another good reason for me to not buy a new saw. I usually buy older ones and fix what's wrong with them...The not so funny thing is if it seized it would be diagnosed as straight gassed claim denied.
