Just checked and at my Yamaha dealer 4L jug is 58 bucks for Yamalube.

I had cases of that stuff in the garage growing up...

I'm getting old...lol

My grandfather used to strain used oil through a cheese cloth “to catch any sh*t” and that’s all we used for bar oil. I don’t remember any adverse effects or oiler problems. We also ran 2 stroke oil of any flavour. outboard, snowmobile, whatever was on sale, again no issues that I remember. Cutting 50-60 cord a year, trees for lumber, etc.
Now that’s it’s my gig I run amsoil saber and bar oil. Buy both by the case load and the price is reasonable enough I don’t care. When I look at profit margins bar oil and amsoil aren’t going to put me under.
Just pour it out once it settles and I don't use the last liter of the 5th batch

Vegetable oil will dry onto a stone that is not used frequently for a chain
I had the dumb idea to try to use canola as a hedge clipper lube. Over the winter it hardened so badly that I had to completely disassemble the two blades and clean them with kerosene before I could get it running again.

I was thinking hole in oil tank as well

@GerbrandR what we got going on there?
Not sure, I bought it used and once received I found out the exhaust side was scored. Intake side was fine actually.
Fuel tank was dry and clean when I got it.

My guess is a dull chain in combination with strange oil. Haven't had much time to investigate the crankshaft and bearings yet.
